Save this file on your computer in an easy-to-find location (e.g. your Desktop). Click the "Add from My Address Book" button on the YorZ Add connections page and select the "Other" option from the "Where do you keep your contacts?" page. On the "Import from other programs" page, insert or browse to the Microsoft Outlook (.CSV) file you created in step 1.

Groups

top

What is a YorZ group?

A YorZ group is a place where top talent can find and share great jobs. Learn more on the YorZ Groups homepage. Group members can:
  • Stay on top of the latest opportunities in their field
  • Get targeted job listings via email or online only
  • Share relevant job listings with talented members

How do I join a group?

Groups are invite-only to ensure group members are A Players. Many groups have auto-invites for graduates of certain schools (e.g. Stanford, Harvard) or employees of certain companies (e.g. Microsoft, Google). Add your school alumni and corporate email addresses to see your invites. Some groups allow you to request an invite from a colleague or the moderator if you meet the group's criteria. See individual group homepages for details.

While groups are invite-only, anyone can join YorZ.com and see the jobs posted on the YorZ public job board.

How do I start a group?

You can create your own group to moderate, or suggest a group to YorZ. YorZ is adding groups all the time. If we are missing your school, company, profession or another type of valuable group that you would join, let us know by suggesting a group.

How are groups added to the Groups Directory?

University and company alumni groups created by YorZ are generally added right away. If we are missing a group from the directory, let us know. If you've created a group that has more than 10 members, you can contact us to add your group to the directory. Please include your group's URL.

What is an invited domain?

Some groups grant invitations to members with email addresses from specific companies, universities or colleges. To join these groups you need to add your corporate, school, or alumni email address to your account. For example, if you are a Yale graduate you would need to add your Yale alumni email address to see your auto-invite for the Yale Alumni group. In addition, if you no longer have a qualifying email, you can request an invite from someone with a qualifying email address.

What is super-group?

A super-group is a collection of related groups. Often super-groups are made up of multiple company or school alumni groups. For example, the Oracle, Intuit and Microsoft alumni groups are all part of the Software Titans super-group. Super-groups make it easier to post to multiple groups simultaneously. In addition, it increases the number of quality jobs that groups members receive.

Who can post to a group or super-group?

Anyone can post to a group for their company or share a relevant job opportunity with one or more groups. It is free to post and share jobs. However, to ensure quality and relevance, each listing is evaluated by the moderators before being posted and sent to group members.

How do I view job postings for a group?

Only members of a group can view and receive job postings. A group member can view postings online in the archive anytime and, if desired, can have postings sent by email as they are posted or in a daily digest.

Bounties

top

What is a bounty?

A bounty is the cash amount that a listing poster is willing to pay if they hire someone through YorZ. A bounty is optional, but can only be offered with listings using candidate and referral tracking features. You can select candidate and referral tracking during the online posting process.

Who is eligible for the bounty?

Any YorZ member (registered user) is eligible for a bounty. A YorZ member earns all or part of the bounty if they help find the candidate hired. YorZ collects and distributes the cash bounty to every member that facilitated the referral or application of the candidate hired. For example, if Jane refers John Smith, and John is hired, Jane earns the bounty. However, if John Smith applies without a referral and is hired, YorZ earns the bounty.

How does a Poster decide to pay the bounty?

Since YorZ is a pay-for-success-only system, Posters determine the criteria for when they hire a candidate and therefore pay a bounty. Posters can specify how long the candidate must be employed before the poster pays the bounty. Please review the Terms of Use for additional details.

What bounty should I offer?

To maximize the quality and quantity of referrals, you should offer whatever it is worth to you to find the right candidate for your job. You should only offer a bounty that you are willing and able to pay since listing a bounty is a commitment to pay. Remember, you only pay the bounty if you hire a candidate through YorZ.

Do I have to file a 1099 for bounties over $600 paid to US residents?

No. Since YorZ distributes the bounty, we will take care of any paperwork related to paying the bounty.

Do I need to save any paperwork for non-US bounty recipients?

No. Since YorZ distributes the bounty, we will take care of any paperwork related to paying the bounty.

What are my options for bounty conditions?

For bounty payments: You can choose to pay the bounty immediately after a candidate is hired or after 30, 60, 90, or 180 days on the job

Listings

top

What kinds of jobs can I post?

You can post a relevant job listing in any of YorZ's categories or groups. Explore the categories and Go to Groups Home. However, certain types of listings are not permitted.
  1. Opportunities that are 100% commission or 100% variable compensation based on productivity. Exceptions are made for jobs that offer an unrecoverable draw.
  2. Multilevel marketing opportunities or jobs that require any upfront fees
  3. Listings that are unclear or vague (e.g. "work-at-home opportunity")
  4. Resumes or listings offering services
  5. Franchise or business partner opportunities
  6. Survey or study participant opportunities

Should I tell friends and colleagues when I post a job?

Yes! The most successful employee referral programs are the ones that are well publicized within a company. Friends and colleagues are great sources of quality referrals. In addition, they may know other people that can help you find what you seek. You can view the referral chains that produced your candidates from the My Listings section of the Employers tab. If you offer a bounty, you can give your friends the opportunity to earn it.

What are YorZ's reposting guidelines?

Listing posters can allow YorZ and others to repost their job listing on other relevant and appropriate job websites, message boards, and email lists. Reposting can increase a listing's exposure and referrals and applications.

A reposted listing must include as much of the listing contents as possible. You cannot add to or modify the listing contents. Only repost listings in places where the listing is relevant to users. Do not repost listings to inappropriate websites or lists. Do not repost to websites and lists that do not allow it.

What are candidate and referral tracking features?

Listing posters can choose to use YorZ's easy-to-use candidate and referral tracking features to accept referrals and applications using YorZ's online tools. These tools help you identify the best candidates and manage your candidate queue. See an example candidate queue. You must use the tracking features to post with a bounty. If you do not use the tracking features, you will provide an email address, URL or another method of applying.

What are the Quick Questions for applicants?

When you use the candidate tracking features, you can choose to ask applicants to answer a few questions to help you quickly sift through applications. These questions may also reduce the number of non-local and unqualified candidates. The questions and possible answers are:

Do you live within commuting distance of this job?
  • Yes - I am a local candidate
  • No - I am moving nearby soon and I do not need relocation assistance
  • No - I will move for the right opportunity and I do not need relocation assistance
  • No - I will move for the right opportunity and I need relocation assistance
  • Not sure - the job description was not clear about the job's location
What is your legal work status?
  • I am a citizen, national or lawful permanent resident
  • I am a visa holder authorized to work
  • I need sponsorship for this job
  • I don't know my legal work status
Are you qualified for this job opportunity?
  • Yes - I've read the job description and I am qualified
  • Maybe - I've read the job description and I may be qualified
  • No - I am looking for other opportunities with your company

What is the candidate questionnaire?

Save valuable time by screening candidates before their applications arrive in your YorZ candidate queue. Use the candidate questionnaire to ask multiple choice and open-ended questions of your choosing. YorZ will append this information to candidate applications.

How do I edit or close my listing?

Click on the Edit Listing link in My Listings to edit your listing, change the location or change the category. You can close your listing from My Listings as well.

How do I add a bounty?

If your listing does not have a bounty, you can add a bounty by using Edit Listing in the My Listings section of the Employers tab.

How do I increase the cash bounty?

If your listing already has a cash bounty, you can increase it by using Edit Listing in the My Listings section of the Employers tab.

How do I indicate that a candidate was hired?

After evaluating each referral or application presented to you in My Listings, you can mark the candidate as "hired" or "not hired" on the Evaluate Candidate page. If you offer a bounty and hire a candidate, YorZ will send you an invoice for the bounty that you must pay once the conditions described in your listing are met.

What happens if more than one referrer refers the candidate that I hire?

While it is up to the employer to determine which referral was most helpful, YorZ recommends that employers give credit (and therefore the bounty, if offered) to the first referral of the candidate hired. Employers are encouraged to clarify how they will handle this situation in the bounty conditions section of the listing.

When should I flag a listing?

YorZ is your community. If you see something that doesn't seem right, please flag it so that we can keep the community safe, clean and easy to use. Flagging a listing may cause it to be taken down - therefore, you should flag with care.

Referring

top

How does referring work?

If the job listing accepts referrals, anyone can refer a Candidate they feel meets the employer's needs. The Referrer can ask the Candidate for consent (recommended) before a referral is sent to the employer. If the Candidate consents or a Referrer sends the referral directly, the referral is sent to the employer.

YorZ Process

Who can refer or apply?

Anyone can apply or refer someone for a job. For listings that use YorZ's candidate tracking, you must first register as a YorZ member to refer someone or apply for a job. As a member you are eligible for bounties when you refer.

Why should I refer?

Referring qualified candidates may help both the job poster and the candidate you refer. And, if a bounty was offered - you will earn some or all of the bounty if your candidate is hired and the bounty conditions are met!

Can I apply for a job posted on YorZ?

Yes. Each listing has application instructions. Only apply if you are qualified for the job.

What is a Referral Chain?

A Referral Chain is the chain of members that facilitate a candidate referral or application. Every time a member emails a listing from YorZ or refers someone, a Referral Chain is started. If the person who receives the email comes to YorZ and uses the "email this listing" or "refer someone" features, he will be added to the referral chain as well. If there is a Bounty on a listing, members in the referral chain share it equally (actually, the final 6 members in the chain share it). For example, while on YorZ, John emails Frank a job listing for a Marketing Manager with a $1,500 bounty, Frank signs in and emails it to Mary, Mary refers Juanita, and Juanita is hired. John, Frank and Mary split the $1,500 bounty, earning $500 each!

Members can view the status of each of their chains (but not the members or candidates in them) from the My Applications / Referrals section of the Jobs tab.

How is the cash bounty paid out to the Referral Chain?

Once the employer pays YorZ, YorZ will distribute the bounty equally to each member of the referral chain via PayPal. Payment will be sent to the default email address in a member's account.

How can I be sure that a Poster will pay the bounty that is offered?

As part of posting, employers must agree to pay the bounty offered if they find the Candidate that meets the needs and conditions of their listing. While YorZ cannot guarantee an employer will pay the bounty offered, there are mechanisms to help make sure everyone is treated fairly. For example, Referrers can review a Poster's posting stats to see how often they have posted and responded to referrers and applicants. We remind Posters to mark every referral and application as "hired" or "not hired". If a Poster rejects the referral of a Candidate they actually hired for what their listing described, the Poster is in violation of the Terms of Use. If you cannot resolve an issue by contacting the Poster, you can flag the Poster to YorZ and we will also attempt to follow up.

The YorZ Network

top

How does YorZ spread the word?

YorZ's network of members and groups is growing every day. In addition to YorZ.com's growing audience, YorZ distributes listings via email alerts, RSS, and blogs and websites with a BountyRoll. Listings posted to the public board are included in the major job search engines (e.g. Indeed, SimplyHired, Oodle, Google Base). Public listings are posted on YorZ.com but many are also distributed elsewhere to increase the level of exposure that a listing receives.

How can I get listings via RSS?

You can access RSS subscription information from every search, category and member profile page from a link labeled RSS. For example, you can access the RSS link from the job listings with bounties page.

How do I sign up for a job email alert?

Anyone can sign up for an email alert from YorZ. YorZ will email you the latest jobs according to your criteria on a daily or weekly basis. You can create a job email alert from any search, category, or member profile page. Or, create an alert here.

What is a BountyRoll?

A BountyRoll is a tool for webmasters and bloggers to put YorZ listings on their website or blog and potentially earn money for facilitating referrals and applications. A BountyRoll is a snippet of HTML code that is inserted into a webpage. You can create a BountyRoll from any search, category, or member profile page. Or you can create a BountyRoll from scratch.

Members and Feedback

top

What is premier membership?

Premier membership expands your access to YorZ's features and listings. A basic member can become a premier member by adding 10 or more connections on YorZ. Premier members can see premium listings posted on the public board. In addition, premier members get access to people search across the entire YorZ network. Premier members may use the Contact this Member feature. Premier membership is free with 10 or more connections.

How do I add, delete or verify an email address?

You can add, delete or verify an email address from the Account Info page of the My Profile tab. Your account has one primary email address that you cannot delete. If you change your email address, you can add a new address, make it your primary address and then delete your old email address. If you have not already verified an email address, you can resend an verification email from the Account Info page as well.

I lost my username or password, what should I do?

If you forgot your password and/or your YorZ ID, you can use the Forgot Your Sign In feature. If that does not work, please contact us: support@yorz.com with your account email address and we will help you.

Will YorZ share my email address?

If you provide your email as part of your registration or email alert signup, YorZ will not sell or rent it to third parties. If you join a group, the group moderator will have access to your email address. It is important to note that YorZ is a place where referrals are made. If someone refers you on YorZ, that person may share you email address with another member. Please review our Privacy Policy.

What is feedback?

Feedback is a tool for employers to indicate how relevant a referral or application was to their job listing. Feedback can be Very Relevant, Somewhat Relevant and Not Relevant. Posters can leave public feedback on applications and referrals as part of YorZ's candidate and referral tracking features.

When should I leave feedback?

As a Poster you are encouraged to leave feedback on every candidate. Very Relevant feedback should be left if the referral or application was relevant to your listing even if you don't hire the candidate. Somewhat Relevant feedback should be left if the referral or application was OK but not particularly helpful. Not Relevant feedback should be left for irrelevant or spam referrals or applications.

What does it mean to flag a member?

Flagging a member is very serious at YorZ. If a member is violating community rules, refusing to pay, breaking the law - please bring the member to our attention by flagging them on their Member Profile page.

What does "no-risk" pricing mean to a Poster?

YorZ is a pay-for-success system. It is free to post your listing. If you post with a bounty, you only pay if you hire a candidate. If you are not satisfied with any of the candidates, you are not obligated to pay any bounty offered.

Is it "Y or Z" or "yours"?

YorZ is pronounced "Y or Z" - symbolizing the inevitable choice between options.

Nonetheless, other variants have been suggested:

  • "Yours" - as in "The Choice is Yorz."
  • "Y O R Z" - short for "Your Online Referral Zone"
  • "Why oars?" - inquiring about a method of boat transport - often followed by "Why not a motor?"
  • "Wire Z" - response to "which wire should I cut to deactivate the bomb?"
  • "Your Z?" - inquiring about someone's Nissan sports car
  • "Yo, R. Z.!" - salutation to your friend R. Z.
  • "Y, O, R's" - describing a Scrabble tray with a Y, an O, and 5 R's

Why doesn't YorZ do X, Y, or Z?

YorZ is a new service and is constantly adding new features. We know there are so many ways for us to improve! If there is something you think YorZ should offer - please let us know at feedback@yorz.com.
