Protecting your Privacy

We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties
If you register, your account information is password protected. Please keep your password safe. We do not publicly publish your email address or password or share it with other individuals or organizations. See “Security” below.
If you connect with other YorZ members, your email address will be viewable by these connections.
Someone who already knows you or has your contact information may invite you to connect on YorZ. In order to invite you to connect, that member may enter your name and email address into our system. YorZ uses that information only to deliver your invitation and facilitate site registration should you choose to register as a member.
When you register, you will be asked to create a member profile. Your member profile will be publicly available. If you elect to include personal information in your profile, this information will be publicly available and may be reviewed, copied or used by third parties.
We offer the ability to collect and review referrals and responses to listings via our website. Therefore, if you post a listing, you do not need to provide your email or web address or any other personal information in your listing. If you nevertheless choose to include personal information in your listing, it will be publicly available and may be reviewed or copied by third parties.
Someone who already knows you or has your contact information may refer you for a listing on YorZ. That person may enter information about you, such as your email address, in the referral that is sent to the listing Poster.
YorZ does not knowingly collect or post personal information from users under the age of 13. If YorZ is made aware that information was collected from a user under 13, YorZ will remove that information from the website.

Information Collection and Use

YorZ collects information from our users at several different points on our website. All content posted on YorZ is stored in our database, even after Postings are closed or expired, and may be archived elsewhere.

Registration

You may register at YorZ to use some parts of our service. During registration, we collect your name, email address, a unique YorZ ID, location, work status and a password. You may also optionally provide us with other information that will be displayed on your public member profile. Except for your email address, password and how you heard about YorZ, any information you provide during registration or post on your public member profile will be publicly available. Your email address provided during registration will not be displayed on your member profile (unless you post it on your profile). Your email address may be viewable by your direct connections on YorZ.

Email Addresses

YorZ sometimes collects your email address for the purposes of sending newsletters, email verification messages, account creation emails, listing posting and referral confirmation emails, referral notifications, product announcements, etc. Recipients of such emails will have the option not to receive these types of emails. Please see the Opt-Out section below.

Email Tools

YorZ provides tools to enable users to email other people about listings and other elements of YorZ's service. If you use these tools (for example, “Email this Listing” functionality), we will send an email from you along with whatever personal message you may have provided. We will only use the email addresses you provided for the purpose of sending the email on your behalf. All registered members can be contacted by other members via the Contact Member feature of their member profile page. If you elect to contact another member, YorZ emails that member on your behalf from your default email address but does not reveal that member's email address to you.

Connections

Your public profile on YorZ displays everyone to who you are connected (your connections). You become publicly connected with someone when you accept an invitation to connect or when someone accepts an invitation to connect from you. In order to invite people to connect, you enter their names and email addresses in the YorZ add connections form. YorZ will send invitations on your behalf using your name and email address. When you invite, YorZ only uses names and email addresses entered to send invitations.

Referrals

YorZ provides tools to enable users to refer Candidates to listing Posters. As part of the referral process, you may optionally provide your name and email address to the listing Poster to facilitate communication. If your referral is accepted, YorZ will provide your email address to Poster so that the Poster can contact you about paying any bounty. In addition, Referrers can optionally provide a Candidate's email address as part of a referral. If you provide a Candidate's email address when you refer someone directly, the Candidate's email address will be provided to the YorZ member that posted the listing. Please do not refer a Candidate without consent if the Candidate may prefer to have their information kept private.

Opt-out

If you are a YorZ registered member and you no longer wish to receive emails from YorZ, you may edit your email preferences by editing your account info from the My Profile tab. However, if you continue to use YorZ, there are certain emails that YorZ needs to send in order to provide the YorZ service, including Payment and Administrative emails and Member to Member communication emails sent through YorZ.

Cookies

We use data collection devices, such as “cookies”, on certain pages of the website to help analyze our web page flow and promote trust and safety. We use “cookies” to personalize YorZ, such as your last visited localized version. A cookie is a small text file that does not personally identify users, although it does identify a user's computer. Cookies do not pose a threat to your computer, and they do not contain viruses. Most Web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can change this feature in your browser.

IP Addresses and Log Files

We use IP addresses and log files to analyze trends, administer the website, track user movement and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses may be used to identify your location to help personalize the YorZ website.

The YorZ website may contain links to other websites. Please be aware that YorZ is not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party linked websites. This privacy statement applies solely to information collected by this website. Please consult the privacy policies of other websites you visit to determine their policies.

Security

We use industry standard practices to protect the privacy of user information, including procedural and technical safeguards to protect our users' personal information against loss, theft or unauthorized access. However, due to the existing regulatory environment, we cannot ensure that all personal information will never be disclosed. Perfect security does not exist on the Internet. YorZ may disclose personal information if legally required to do so or if necessary to comply with legal processes served on YorZ or to take emergency action to protect the personal safety of users of the YorZ website or the public. YorZ may share some or all user information with another business entity should we plan to merge with or be acquired by that entity, assuming that entity agrees to comply with this privacy policy.

Updating Personal Information

If your personally identifiable information changes or if you no longer desire our service, we will correct, update or remove your personal data. To make changes to your user information, you may sign in to YorZ.com and edit your profile in My YorZ. If needed, you may contact us at:

Effective Date; Notification of Changes

The policy is effective for all users as of August 21, 2006. We may amend this privacy policy at any time by posting the amended terms on the website. All amended terms shall automatically be effective 30 days after they are initially posted on the website. If we decide to use personally identifiable information in a manner that is different from that stated in the privacy policy effective at the time it was collected, we will notify users via email. Users will have a choice as to whether or not we use their information in this different manner.

International Users

YorZ is an international service. We allow users from almost any nation to use the service and register as a member. If you use YorZ, you acknowledge and agree that we may transmit data, information or content collected on YorZ to countries other than where you reside. You also agree and acknowledge that such data may be stored on servers located in the United States of America. By providing YorZ with data, information or content, you consent to the transfer and use of such data as set forth in this Privacy Policy.
